Getting Started with Arduino Uno: Your First Circuit in 30 Minutes
New to Arduino? This beginner guide walks you through setting up your Arduino Uno, installing the IDE, and building your first LED blink circuit — all in under 30 minutes.

What is Arduino?

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. It is the most popular microcontroller for beginners and professionals alike. The Arduino Uno is the best board to start with.

What You Need

  • Arduino Uno R3
  • USB Cable (Type A to B)
  • 1x LED
  • 1x 220Ω Resistor
  • Breadboard + Jumper Wires

Step 1: Install Arduino IDE

Download the Arduino IDE from arduino.cc. Install it on your Windows, Mac, or Linux computer. Connect your Arduino Uno via USB — the power LED should light up green.

Step 2: Upload Blink Sketch

Open Arduino IDE → File → Examples → 01.Basics → Blink. Select your board (Tools → Board → Arduino Uno) and port (Tools → Port → COMX). Click Upload. The onboard LED will blink every second!

Step 3: Build LED Circuit

Connect a 220Ω resistor from pin 13 to the long leg (anode) of your LED. Connect the short leg (cathode) to GND. Run the Blink sketch — your external LED will now blink too!

Where to Buy
